About Papua New Guinea

The Independent State of Papua New Guinea lies just south of the equator, in the western Pacific to the east of Indonesia, and 160 kilometres north of the north-eastern tip of Queensland, Australia.

The total indigenous population is estimated at around 5.9 million, increasing at around 2.7% annually. There are three basic ethnic groups: Polynesians, Melanesians and Micronesians. There are also a large number of distinct tribal groups, such as the Chimbu whose 500,000 members are widely distributed, as well as the Buka, Sepik, Tolai and Papuan.

Government, law, commerce and education are conducted in English and Pidgin. There are more than 860 recorded local languages, the most widely used being Tok Pisin (Pidgin) and Motu.

About Port Moresby, PNG

Port Moresby is the capital of Papua New Guinea, and is also the country's major entry and exit point. It is a sprawling city with a population of around 300,000 and average temperatures of between 23C and 31C. 

Port Moresby is also a superb natural harbour situated in the south-east corner of the country. The city boasts some famous attractions, such as the National Museum and New Parliament. 

Within the city limits are situated a modern university campus and the National Botanical Garden. You can also visit the Moitaka Wildlife Sanctuary, famous for its crocodile farm.

Approximately 50 km from Port Moresby, you'll find the Sogeri Plateau, which has a cool, serene environment. Some of the city's other attractions include Idler’s Beach, Daugo Island, Sinasi Reef, Gordons and Boroko.

About the Opportunity

ANZ Banking Group (PNG) has an exciting opportunity for a Learning & Development Specialist / Consultant - Institutional Banking to join its team based in its Port Moresby offices.

In this challenging role, you will provide effective learning and development consulting to support the growth agenda for the Institutional business.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the design, development, documentation and delivery of learning solutions;
  • Ensuring that learning solutions are up to date, include consistent messages and standards; and
  • Building regional delivery capability and identifying and developing the local L&D champion.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Extensive training program design, development, documentation and delivery experience;
  • Strong relationship building skills - the ability to interact with people from varied cultural backgrounds and all levels of staff with all skill bases;
  • Consulting skills including influencing skills;
  • Project management skills and experience; and
  • The ability to link business strategy and HR strategy.

An excellent salary package circa AU$90,000 - AU$130,000 will be negotiable based on experience, as well as the following fantastic ANZ benefits:
