The UMW Niugini PNG Head Office is in Port Moresby, with other branches in Lae, Kokopo and Wau.

About the Opportunity

Due to continued growth, UMW Niugini has an exciting opportunity for an accomplished Long Term Planner to join their team in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

This is a FIFO role, involving a 5 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation (no Sundays).

In this role you will be responsible for all aspects of UMW's Long Term Planning in PNG, including implementing component schedules, and ensuring the appropriate components are ordered to fulfil the requirements of contracts and customers.

You will work with UMW Managers and Short Term Maintenance Planners to ensure customer requirements are consistently met.

Some of your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring all OEM recommendations are being adhered to with regard to all major components rebuilds;
  • Preparing maintenance work schedules and supply updates to suppliers and UMW management;
  • From the subsequent approved maintenance schedule, ensuring all components are requisitioned in Plant Maintenance to fulfil scheduled work;
  • Meeting with Purchasing on a weekly basis to ensure supply of components to fulfil scheduled work;
  • Reviewing, implementing and developing Plant Maintenance;
  • Reviewing to ensure all Component Work Orders are correctly costed to Plant Maintenance;
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with relevant personnel from relevant companies as required; and
  • Reporting on Long term planning actions against KPI's.

UMW is looking for a clear thinking, strategic and resourceful applicant with at least 10 years experience in the Equipment Dealership & Support sector, with significant experience in a similar managerial position. Candidates with an understanding of Komatsu and MARC's are preferred.

A Heavy Duty Truck licence would be preferred, but is not essential. Candidates must also speak and write fluent English, and have strong abilities with Microsoft Word and Excel. Applicants with experience in plant maintenance programs such as Pronto or Ellipse are preferred.

You will be a highly communicative person who can develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers, along with peers, superiors and subordinates.

UMW is seeking an applicant with strong leadership, planning, reporting and analytical skills, and who is confident in overseeing and working with both qualified professionals and a semi-skilled PNG workforce.

The organisation requires someone who is willing to take on a Fly In Fly Out role, working in PNG for 5 weeks (no Sunday shifts, and free shared accommodation provided), then flying home for 2 weeks at a time.

An attractive salary package circa AU$160,000 will be negotiable based on experience.

In addition, you will be granted up to 14 days medical leave each calendar year, as well as emergency medical evacuation insurance coverage.
