About the Organisation

Holyoake Alice Springs is an autonomous, non profit, community based organisation that provides information, counselling, support and education to both individuals and families living in Alice Springs and the central Australian community, who are directly and indirectly affected by drug and/or alcohol addiction.

Holyoake has offices in Victoria Park, as well as affiliates in Tasmania, New South Wales, Queensland, and the Northern Territory.

About the Opportunity

If you are a skilled and motivated Manager who thrives on challenges, Holyoake has an exciting opportunity for you to lead and develop its Alice Springs team!

Reporting to the Holyoake Board of Management, the main aim of this vital and varied position is to monitor and evaluate service provision to ensure optimum use of resources and the provision of responsive, quality, cost-effective services in line with client needs.

Some of your specific duties will include:

  • Providing leadership and direction in achieving Holyoake objectives;
  • Formulating the implementing policies and procedures that reflect these objectives;
  • Facilitating the role of the Senior Counsellor in the operation of the programs;
  • Developing and implementing strategic management and financial plans, and being accountable for the associated outcomes;
  • Coordinating recruitment and selection of new staff;
  • Ensuring opportunities are available for staff to enhance their professional skills and knowledge in modern, relevant Counselling theory and practice;
  • Reporting monthly to the Board of Management on the performance of Holyoake Alice Springs;
  • Negotiating with funding bodies and alternate services providers in relation to service provision;
  • Sourcing new funding possibilities, including the submission of grant applications in collaboration with the Board of Management;
  • Financial Control; and
  • Weekly supervision with Reception / Admin person.

The successful applicant will ideally have relevant tertiary or VET qualifications, as well as high level management skills and experience in overseeing the development and delivery of high quality human services.

You will also require a sound knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting the delivery of Holyoake programs and services, as well as extensive administrative skills.

This is a ‘hands-on’ role and the successful candidate must be proficient in all areas of financial accountability including accounts/ pays and reconciliation of accounts. Applicants with additional MYOB experience would be preferred.

Furthermore, HR management experience and a sound understanding of relevant contemporary legislation (including OH&S, Workers compensation, EEO) will be important to your success in this role.

The successful candidate must be willing to undertake a 14 Week Skills for Life Course which is conducted internally - designed to provide you with the necessary tools and understanding of the Holyoake Programs, so as to better service their clients!

Your experience will be supported by well developed communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills, including the ability to successfully relate with diverse groups and individuals.
