About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a Trade Commissioner at the Pacific Islands Trade and Invest (PT&I) office in Sydney, Australia. The Trade Commissioner will be accountable to the Secretary General through the Director, Economic Governance Programme. Aimed at increasing Pacific Islands’ exports and driving investments into Pacific Islands, the successful candidate is to provide appropriate market support to Forum Island Members/Observers and their private sectors via a cost efficient and targeted client driven service in Australia.

 Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Managing People;
  • Services delivery, Liaison & Networking;
  • Administration/Reporting;
  • Work & Marketing Programming; and
  • Financial and Management Support/Advice.

Applicants should have an appropriate Degree (e.g. in Business Studies, Business Administration, Management or International Marketing) and a minimum 10 years demonstrated experience in the field of international marketing. Applicants will have a proven track record in export market development. They must possess demonstrated experience and success in international trade and investment, international business and enterprise development, with strong strategic planning, financial management, and team leadership ability. Knowledge of Australia private sector would be desirable.

About the Benefits

The appointment will carry a competitive remuneration and benefits package including medical and life insurance, housing and education for dependant children. The starting salary will be in the range of SDR39,868 to SDR44,851 per annum. Using the July exchange rates this salary was equivalent to FJD116,403 to FJD130,952. A cost of living adjustment will be added to this salary. For non-Australia nationals, this salary may be tax-free.
